Site Close Down Update :: Boat Storage :: Bonfire Reminder

18/10/2016

ODC Site Decommissioning

Well done and thanks to those who were down at the weekend helping with tasks, getting masts down and removing boats. We are ahead of schedule with the winch already removed and mats rolled up.
If you have been using tyres under your boat take them away with the boat. The club does not want to incur the £5 a tyre cost of disposal at the tip.
There are quite a few odd spars, bits of trolley and so forth in neglected corners of the site. If any of these are still needed take them away over the next 2 weekends. After the end of October they will be disposed of.

Next weekend

Removal of winch base.
Continuing to move boats. Just come down on Saturday around 10:00 if you wish to move your boat. We have several trailers available. Or contact one of the following and pre-plan a tow.
  •   Ian Finlayson        cat trailer + tow
  •   Keith Bartlett        cat trailer + tow (from 29 October)
  •   Mike Sewell cat trailer + tow (October only)
  •   Phil Wicks mono trailer
  •   Rebecca Verling laser trailer
the following have also volunteered to tow:
  •   Andy Richards, Fred Young, Bob Murdoch.
(Remember you can find members' phone numbers and email address on Dutyman once you log in).

Boat Storage - Needed

The space in Dappers Lane is pretty rough, and we only want to use it as a last resort. We now know that our space requirement is quite modest - about 5 or 6 boats + the stairs and launching mats. If anyone knows of available space for these (or some of these) please let us know as soon as possible.
My list of boats requiring storage is currently as follows (let me know if I have missed you).
  •   Bob Murdoch        Dart 15 (up for sale)
  •   Rebecca Verling Dart 16
  •   Richard Gray Comet
  •   Alan Burton Dart 15
  •   James Saunders Hobie 14
  •   Phil Wicks Dart 15 (possibly)

Reminder:  ODC FIREWORKS

Date: 12 November
Time: Gates open 17:00, Start 17:30
This is the last big event for the ODC on the current site.

Please bring a pocketful of cash - fireworks are expensive and we will be circulating with buckets - suggested minimum donation £5 a head. DO NOT BRING FIREWORKS.

The kiosk will be serving hot dogs etc.

We will be having a small bonfire, but will not be collecting members' combustibles. If you want to burn stuff on the fire bring it to the beach on 12 and help build the fire after lunch. (It will help Phil Steele if he knows in advance that you are bringing stuff to burn).

Let's go out with a BIG BANG.

Thank you for your cooperation and assistance .... ....
